Patient and Public Involvement
Annual Report on Consultation

A new duty to report on consultation places a legal duty on all primary care trusts (PCTs) and strategic health authorities (SHAs) to report annually on the influence people’s views have had on their decisions. The report provides important evidence of an organisation’s responsiveness and accountability. The reports are an opportunity for SHAs and PCTs to demonstrate that they are increasingly looking outwards rather than upwards.
NHS Gloucestershire has had a good track record of planning and reporting on individual involvement and consultation activities. The new duty will provide the impetus to draw all relevant material together in a single document annually.
